Job summary

The Lawson Companies, Inc. seeks a Maintenance Prep team member to support the maintenance team in keeping our multifamily properties well-maintained in Chesapeake, VA.

You will be responsible for vacant unit prep, completing maintenance projects with quality workmanship, and assisting with general upkeep including plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry tasks. Qualifications

• Proven mechanical aptitude with maintenance trade exposure.
• Formal training in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall or HVAC recommended.
• Ability to report to work during inclement weather events for property cleanup/emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Vacant apartment prep.
• Perform maintenance projects with quality workmanship and timeliness.
• Perform plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, masonry, minor extermination and carpentry work.
• Repair/replace/install signage, glass, tile, carpet, cove base, fixtures, blinds, locks and hinges.
• Conduct inspections and inventory control.
• Assist in janitorial tasks and report deficiencies.

We are currently seeking to add a Maintenance Prep team member to support and assist our maintenance team. Maintenance staff are responsible for overall property maintenance and related mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other operational/functional systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Vacant apartment prep
• Perform, with good workmanship, all assigned maintenance projects in a timely manner
• Perform plumbing, electrical, painting, concrete, masonry, minor extermination and carpentry work
• Repair, replace or install signage, glass, tile, carpet, cove base, fixtures, venetian blinds, locks, doorknobs and hinges etc.
• Inspections
• Turn Inventory control
• Perform, with good workmanship, all assigned maintenance projects in a timely manner
• Janitorial
• Assist in janitorial work by performing necessary "on-the-spot" corrections and reporting deficiencies in janitorial services
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Mechanical aptitude with a minimum of one (1) year maintenance trade experience.
• Formal training in one or more of the following trades: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall installation or air conditioning.
• Be available to report to work during any inclement weather event for property clean up and emergencies

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent.

Physical Functions

Bending, kneeling, stretching, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, squatting, lifting up to sixty (60) pounds, running and lifting over sixty (60) pounds occasionally.
