Job summary

TekPro, a contract manufacturer recruitment partner, seeks a Maintenance Planner for its Elgin, IL facility. You’ll keep maintenance organized by managing the CMMS, planning preventive and corrective work, and turning needs into scheduled, actionable jobs that can be completed on time.

You’ll coordinate with technicians and production leaders, track work orders and downtime, maintain asset records, and support purchasing and vendor coordination.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, and coordination in manufacturing.
• Hands-on familiarity with CMMS, work orders, preventive maintenance, and equipment records.
• Ability to organize priorities and build practical schedules around labor and production constraints.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the CMMS and plan preventive, corrective, and approved reactive maintenance work.
• Build work orders with required labor, parts, tools, instructions, and ETA.
• Coordinate weekly schedules and planned downtime around production needs and technician hours.
• Track PM completion, open work orders, schedule performance, and recurring issues.
• Review completed work and feedback to improve future plans.
• Support MRO purchasing, spare parts inventory, and vendor coordination.
• Keep asset records, parts data, and maintenance documentation current.
• Train and support team members in CMMS use and maintenance planning meetings.

South Elgin / Elgin area, IL | $65,000–$75,000 base salary | Full-time, direct hire

TekPro is a direct-hire recruiting firm specializing in manufacturing and technical talent. We’re partnering with an established contract manufacturer and packaging business to hire a Maintenance Planner supporting its Elgin facility.

This role is a good fit for someone who keeps maintenance organized: clear work orders, realistic schedules, the right parts, and accurate equipment records. You’ll work closely with technicians and production leaders to turn maintenance needs into work that can be planned and completed.

What You’ll Handle

• Maintain the CMMS and plan preventive, corrective, and approved reactive maintenance work.
• Build work orders with the required labor, parts, tools, instructions, and estimated completion time.
• Coordinate weekly schedules and planned downtime around production needs and available technician hours.
• Track PM completion, open work orders, schedule performance, and recurring equipment issues.
• Review completed work and technician feedback to improve future job plans.
• Support MRO purchasing, spare-parts inventory, and vendor coordination within approval requirements.
• Keep asset records, parts data, maintenance documentation, and training materials current.
• Train and support team members in CMMS use and participate in maintenance planning meetings.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, coordination, or a closely related manufacturing support role.
• Hands-on familiarity with a CMMS, work orders, preventive maintenance, and equipment records.
• Ability to organize competing priorities and build practical schedules around labor and production constraints.
• Comfort working with maintenance technicians, production teams, purchasing, and outside vendors.
• Strong attention to detail in inventory records, reporting, and follow-up.
• Food manufacturing or packaging experience is a plus.
