Job summary

Catholic Health’s Our Lady of Consolation campus in West Islip, NY is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic with a primary focus on painting to maintain the facility’s appearance, safety and comfort through interior and exterior painting and surface prep. This role supports a patient-centered care environment within a 345-bed nursing and rehabilitative facility.

You will patch and finish walls, repair drywall, maintain equipment, follow OSHA rules, and assist with basic maintenance tasks as needed to

Qualifications

• High School equivalent required.
• Knowledge of painting techniques and surface prep.
• Experience in commercial or institutional settings preferred.
• Healthcare or long-term care environment experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, patch, sand, prime, and paint walls, ceilings, doors, trim, and other surfaces.
• Repair drywall and minor wall damage before painting.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to maintain a safe environment.
• Inspect areas for cosmetic needs and complete work orders promptly.
• Maintain painting equipment and comply with safety procedures and OSHA rules.
• Assist with general maintenance including basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tasks.
