Job summary

Wallis and Baker is seeking an Assistant Service Manager to support the Service Manager in maintaining safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing communities. You will lead maintenance staff, oversee repairs, make-readies, and preventative tasks across properties, while coordinating with Property and Portfolio Managers.

The role requires hands-on technical skills, strong communication, and on-call availability. Experience with Yardi and Grace Hill tools is a plus.

Qualifications

3+ years of multifamily or facilities maintenance experience.
Supervisory or lead technician experience preferred.
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to train and motivate team members.
On-call rotation experience; EPA Type II or Universal Certification, CPO, MPO as required.

Responsibilities

Maintenance & repairs: complete make-readies, painting, and unit prep to company standards.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and replace HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliances.
Maintain and balance pools; ensure water quality per standards.
Perform general and preventative maintenance as directed.
Schedule and manage unit turns to meet occupancy and move-in timelines.
Oversee purchase orders and invoicing in compliance with policies.
Review bids/proposals from vendors and contractors.
Conduct property inspections in Yardi; maintain Maintenance Binders.
