Job Description:

Provides lead-level support for a team performing semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work across campus facilities. Performs preventive maintenance, repairs, and minor construction tasks on building systems and structural components while coordinating work activities and supporting operational readiness.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on building systems and structural components.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and resolve operational issues.
  • Lead, train, and support semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance personnel.
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, assigning, and reviewing work activities.
  • Inspect building systems and equipment to ensure safety and operational readiness.
  • Maintain adequate materials, supplies, and tools for assigned work areas.
  • Prepare work logs, service records, and operational reports.
  • Estimate labor, time, and materials required for assigned tasks.
  • Assist skilled trades staff with repairs, renovations, and new construction work.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment; ensure clean and safe work environments.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Four (4) years of related maintenance or construction experience.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a related trade area.
  • Ability to perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair work independently.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions, plans, and service documentation.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Valid driver’s license (Maryland Class C or equivalent).
  • EPA or environmental certifications may be required depending on assignment (e.g., CFC handling).
  • Asbestos awareness or related training may be required.
  • OSHA safety training preferred.
Conditions of Employment:

Valid Maryland Non-commmerical Class C or equivalent driver's license may be required.

Candidates selected for employment may be required to be trained to work with asbestos.

Employees in this job class assigned to work with equipment containing CFC refrigerants must achieve and maintain valid certification in accordance with federal law.

This position is an essential function/employee position.

Employees in this classification will be required to report to work or remain at work during inclement weather and/or other campus events or emergencies.
