  • Assist mechanics in major repairs or new construction.

All applicants must take the practical and written tests. Position will remain open until 05/25/2026 or until filled.

Mechanic II
Responsibilities
  • Performs semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and repair tasks on buildings, apartments, grounds, and equipment. Mandatory snow removal and other on-call duties.
Essential Functions
  • Performs maintenance and repair tasks to hot water, heating and boiler systems such as draining tanks, cleaning burners, lubrications, etc.
  • Performs plumbing tasks such as changing washers, stems etc. repairing toilets by changing ball cock, overflow tubes, etc., unclog drains, etc.
  • Performs electrical tasks such as changing plate covers on switches and outlets, replacing fluorescent lights and ballasts
  • Performs pest control tasks under the direction of a licensed exterminator
  • Performs floor tile installations
  • Prepares vacant apartments for rental
  • Performs building repairs such as patching holes in walls, ceilings, doors, etc.
  • Assist mechanics in major repairs or new construction
  • Maintains and makes repairs to electrical equipment and appliances, burners, refrigerators, ranges, etc.
  • Performs other job‑related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures.
  • Ability to work in hazardous and adverse conditions such as infested places, snow, rain, heat, cold, cramped quarters and high places.
  • Ability to bend, squat, stoop, kneel, push/pull/lift heavy objects up to 40 pounds, walk/stand for up to 8 hours, climb ladders and steps.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
