Job summary

2Life Communities is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic II to keep our Newton-area properties safe and well-maintained. The role will primarily be based at Leland House in Waltham with occasional coverage at Golda Meir House in Newton, addressing a range of mechanical tasks and preventive maintenance.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of hands-on experience, familiarity with OSHA regulations, and the ability to work safely with hand and power tools while serving an older adult resident

Qualifications

• Five years of hands-on maintenance experience is required.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and high-rise building systems preferred.
• Comfort working with older adults (ages 62–102) and using hand/power tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Respond to work orders and perform general mechanical tasks including electrical, plumbing, heating, appliances, groundskeeping, and snow removal.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine checks in mechanical and boiler rooms.
• Prepare vacant apartments for new residents.
• Inspect units with Resident Service Teams for safety and compliance.
• Maintain an inventory system for equipment and tools.
• Conduct pest control inspections and follow-up treatments.
• Be available for evening, weekend, and holiday emergency coverage.
• Rotate to other 2Life buildings as needed.
