Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow prescribed procedures and services, operate and/or maintain facility heating, cooling, plumbing, minor electric, and other mechanical equipment with assistance from Mechanic III when needed.
- Conduct equipment rounds, take temperatures, inspect and repair equipment as needed, and notify supervisor or director if outside contractor is required.
- Perform preventative maintenance throughout the building.
- Complete necessary daily log paperwork for tasks performed.
- Make routine repairs to the building, mechanical equipment, and grounds.
- Clean and maintain grounds, water plants, perform landscaping, and coordinate with outside vendors as directed by supervisor.
- Operate power tools safely using personal protective equipment.
- Complete assigned work orders efficiently and promptly.
- Use safety precautions for oxygen usage, lockout/tagout procedures, fire prevention, and other safety measures as needed.
- Ensure safety of residents, staff, and visitors by understanding, communicating, and complying with safety and security procedures.
- Attend required in-services and training sessions, including online trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Corporate Compliance
- Comply with safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to laws regarding the protection, use, disclosure, and release of client and CJE business information.
- Attend required services and report violations of law, regulations, policies, or procedures.
- Report client abuse or neglect; document accurately, timely, and completely.
- Maintain responsibility for HIPAA compliance.
- Note: Exposure to bloodborne pathogens is unlikely in this position.
Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and write English proficiently.
- Minimum of 2 years of related maintenance experience, including operation and maintenance of HVAC and boiler machinery.
- Knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and electric repairs.
- Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Weekend availability required.
Additional Skills
- Carpentry skills.
- Ability to move, disassemble, and assemble furniture.
- Experience repairing faucets, toilets, convectors, electrical outlets, and mechanical breakdowns.
- Proficiency with hand tools.
- Ability to perform low voltage electrical repairs.
- Ability to assemble equipment.
- Repair door locks, hinges, wheelchairs, and other equipment.
- Knowledge of building safety standards, including IDPH, OSHA, and local fire codes.
Language Skills
- Ability to interpret business and technical documents, and communicate effectively.
Reasoning Ability
- Apply common sense to carry out instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables.
Physical Demands
Must have physical coordination, dexterity, agility, and mobility. Able to walk, stand, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb stairs/ladders, and lift/move up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity required.
