Job summary

Amarillo College is seeking a Full-Time Maintenance Mechanic I to maintain and repair plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical systems for the Building Maintenance Department. The role provides hands-on technical work to ensure reliable facilities operations.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, at least three years of maintenance and repair experience, and a current Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Three years of maintenance/repair experience required; four years preferred.
  • Current Texas driver’s license with a 3-year safe driving record required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, repair and preventive maintenance work.
  • Lubricate moving parts.
  • Make periodic boiler checks.
  • Keep plumbing in usable condition and in good working order.
  • Assist in remodeling of facilities.
  • Maintain heating and cooling units and assist in system replacements.
  • Interact professionally with all department levels and the community.
  • Participate in performance assessments/evaluations as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
