Amarillo College is seeking a Full-Time Maintenance Mechanic I to maintain and repair plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical systems for the Building Maintenance Department. The role provides hands-on technical work to ensure reliable facilities operations.
Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, at least three years of maintenance and repair experience, and a current Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record.

We are seeking our nextFull-Time Maintenance Mechanic Iwho will be all-in on our mission and who will perform a variety of clerical and administrative tasks to support the operations of the assigned program/department and facilitate smooth office procedures.
The Maintenance Mechanic I will perform work in the maintenance and repair of plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical equipment for the Building Maintenance Department.
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Required: Three (3) years of experience in maintenance and repair.
Preferred:Four (4) years of journeyman-level experience.
Required: Current and clear Texas driver's license with a 3-year safe driving record.
Pay grade 7 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, reach, pull, push, and use hands to finger, handle or feel. Must be comfortable with working in small confined spaces as required as well as working in a variety of inclement weather and climatic conditions. Must be able to stand on or in wet areas to clean clogged lines and fixtures as well as withstand odors typically occurring with clogged fixtures and pipelines. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and maneuver objects up to 30 pounds and maneuver heavier objects with assistance of others and/or appropriate equipment.
Required to work a flexible schedule ("on call emergency maintenance" on a rotating schedule which includes after hours, weekends, and holidays, and overtime if necessary.)
