Job summary

White Castle is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for its bakery facility in Evendale, OH. The role focuses on maintaining and repairing production equipment, refrigeration, and HVAC systems to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

You will troubleshoot PLCs, read blueprints, and perform preventive maintenance while following safety policies. The position requires flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays and offers competitive weekly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 1 year general maintenance experience preferred.
Experience/education in refrigeration, electrical and programmable controls, 480 voltage, hydraulics, pneumatics, high pressure pumps, air compressors, welding, fabrication; carpentry, plumbing, and pipefitting.
Knowledge of refrigeration, electrical and programmable controllers, 480 voltage, hydraulics, pneumatics, high pressure pumps, air compressors, welding, fabrication; carpentry, plumbing, and pipefitting.
Must supply own basic hand tools.
Safe lifting procedures knowledge and ability to follow instructions.
Understanding of lockout/tagout safety procedures.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
Troubleshooting and on‑the‑spot decision making to keep equipment running.
Proficiency with shop tools and repair; basic electrical troubleshooting.
Willingness to learn new equipment and suggest modifications.
Proficiency in assembling/disassembling production equipment.
Solid mechanical aptitude and root-cause analysis.
Understanding of lean processes and continuous improvement.
Good verbal communication, teamwork, and ability to follow detailed instructions.
Willingness to train others on equipment procedures and safety.
Ability to work quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Capacity to manage multiple tasks and adhere to timelines.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; on‑call for maintenance programs and emergencies.
Ability to complete on‑the‑job training.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair production equipment including proofer, oven, cooling tunnel, spiral freezer, building, outside premises, and other equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance during production and non-production hours.
Maintain and repair refrigeration and HVAC systems.
Observe and diagnose equipment malfunctions and PLC issues.
Maintain the maintenance shop and equipment.
Assemble and disassemble production equipment.
Design and fabricate specialty items for production needs.
Follow all safety rules including LOTO, arc flash, OSHA guidelines.
Participate in training for professional development as needed.
Maintain inventory of parts and supplies.
Comply with incident reporting policies and procedures.
Adhere to plant security and safety policies.
Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers; be responsive to team needs.
Provide training to new team members when requested.
Perform duties safely and efficiently.
