Starting Pay: $23.9722 Hourly ($49,862)

Step A: $24.5840 Hourly ($51,135)

Step B: $25.2496 Hourly ($52,519)

Step C: $25.8921 Hourly ($53,856)

Step D: $26.4423 Hourly ($55,000)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Two (2) years' experience as a Laborer III with Genesee County Facilities and Operations;

• Must successfully complete within three (3) years of holding the position: a job-related educational program of five (5) classes, and EPA certification 608 type I & II or universal.

Failure to complete these requirements within three years will result in demotion to Laborer III.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

JOB SUMMARY

Performs building maintenance tasks in training capacity; works under supervision; may receive training from a Maintenance Mechanic; performs duties as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

• Repairs office furniture and equipment;
• Performs concrete, masonry, carpentry, painting, HVACR, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical work;
• Services and repairs HVACR systems, plumbing, equipment, and electrical systems;
• Assists maintenance mechanics;
• Monitors building automation systems and inputs work into CMMS software.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of power and hand tools;
• Some knowledge of trades such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVACR, electrical;
• Ability to operate equipment safely;
• Ability to follow complex instructions;
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision;
• Proficiency with computers for work orders, emails, and building systems;
• Ability to work in correctional facilities and high-stress situations;
• Ability to work in a diverse, inclusive environment.
