Job summary

State of Washington – Fircrest Residential Habilitation Center (RHC) in Shoreline is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic 2 to help maintain a safe, functional environment for residents with developmental disabilities.

You will perform skilled journey-level carpentry, install and repair building systems, and design specialized equipment for program use. The role supports client care, safety, and daily operations across campus facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with four years of related maintenance experience.
• Recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanical trade.
• Ability to read blueprints and plans; estimate materials and labor.

Responsibilities

• Perform journey-level carpentry for repair, maintenance, and alteration of interior finishes, structures, and building systems.
• Install, repair, and maintain flooring, drywall, framing, roofing, concrete, fencing, and related components.
• Maintain and repair windows, glazing, screens, gutters, and downspouts.
• Service and repair automatic doors and associated mechanical systems across campus buildings.
• Manage and maintain campus-wide key, lock, and access control systems, including computerized card access.
• Design and fabricate specialized mechanical apparatus and client workstation devices for program use.
• Conduct building condition assessments, recommend repairs, and track time and materials.
