Job summary

Heartwood Extended Health Care in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to assist with repairs and preventive maintenance for the community. Ensures proper upkeep of equipment and facilities for residents, staff, and visitors.

Essential duties include documenting maintenance programs, groundskeeping, interior upkeep, apartment refurbishments, and coordinating emergency procedures with local authorities. A HS diploma and 2+ years in electrical, plumbing, or carpentry are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Education or experience sufficient to meet position requirements or as required by State regulations.
• Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
• 2+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in electrical repairs, plumbing, and or carpentry.

Responsibilities

• Documents preventative maintenance program for facility and equipment.
• Maintains grounds including outside community repair, lawn maintenance and garbage removal.
• Maintains inside of community, offices, and communal areas in community, including carpet and furniture cleaning, window cleaning, painting, removal of trash and upkeep of vinyl.
• Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
• Maintains and/repairs community equipment; ensures equipment is functioning properly.
• Prepares apartments for move-in and completes refurbishing of apartments after moving- out, including painting of apartments.
• Observes problems, concerns, issues with resident apartments, the community and the grounds and communicates them appropriately.
• Coordinates with the local fire department for emergency procedures per state regulations/codes (i.e. fire drills)

• Ability to work on a ladder.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime, to meet the position's requirements.
