Job summary

Washington State University in Pullman, WA is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic 1 to perform semi-skilled maintenance, repair, remodeling, alteration and construction of campus buildings and equipment.

You will handle general maintenance on interior and exterior systems and work with other trades to support new construction and remodeling projects. This is a full-time, permanent position with overtime eligibility and a starting salary within the listed range.

Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent and two years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or repair work; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.

The Opportunity

As a Maintenance Mechanic 1, you perform semi‑skilled work in the maintenance, repair, remodeling, alteration, and construction of buildings, facilities, and equipment. You perform general maintenance on both interior and exterior building systems, and you collaborate with other trades and crafts to support new construction and remodeling projects.

Additional Information

This is a full-time (100% FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary

$4,746 to $5,506 | Range 45G (Steps G-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications
  • High school graduation or equivalent and two years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or repair work; OR equivalent education/experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Plumbing, Electrical, Refrigeration, Carpentry, Painting, or HVAC/Control repair fields of work.
