Champion Packaging & Distribution Inc. is a privately held company with over 30 years of success as a quality household cleaner manufacturer. We are currently recruiting for a 2nd Shift Maintenance Mechanic. The position will be located at our production facility at 1840 Internationale Parkway, Woodridge, IL.

The successful candidate will have a strong electrical and mechanical background. Primary responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing industrial packaging equipment and facilities support equipment, with a focus on safety and maintenance. Work will be based on daily assignments, prints, schematics, wiring diagrams, facility check sheets, machine manuals, sketches, preventive maintenance sheets, and instructions.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
• Disassemble equipment, replace defective parts such as motors, gearboxes, clutches, bearings, and electrical units, then reassemble and adjust.
• Collaborate effectively with all personnel levels, individually or as part of a team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Simplify and improve changeover procedures.
• Assist line workers during changeovers.
• Set up fill lines for production runs.
• Perform changeovers and setups on equipment and lines.
• Repair machinery and related equipment.
• Dismantle defective equipment and install repaired or new parts.
• Adhere to safety policies and promote PPE usage.
• Assist supervisors in operating production lines.
• Interact with various management levels.
• Participate in projects, meetings, and other duties as assigned.

Hours

First shift hours (7:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.), Monday to Friday, overtime as needed.

Equipment Knowledge

The ideal candidate should be familiar with carton erectors, carton sealers, liquid fillers, case packers, palletizers, cappers, conveyors, labelers, etc. Blow molding experience with Uniloy or Bekum blowmolders is a plus.
