Maintenance Mechanic
Job summary
The primary job function is to maintain production and quality by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and listening for issues, using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Removing defective parts by dismantling devices with hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining parts' form and texture.
- Determining changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts with rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
- Controlling downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
- Fabricating repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Maintaining equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock levels, anticipating needs, placing, and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.
- Conserving maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
- Providing mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
- Preparing mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
Additional duties include:
- Maintaining technical knowledge through workshops, reviewing publications, and networking.
- Ensuring team continuity by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs.
- Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contributing to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.

Essential job functions and minimum requirements include:
- Safely adjusting molding machine operational parameters.
- Repairing EOATs.
- Locating root causes of problems.
- Communicating clearly in writing, typing, and drawings.
- Reading and following mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Installing electrical conduit, copper piping, PVC piping, and wiring.
- Reading voltage/ohm meters.
- Performing preventive maintenance and entering data into the computer system.
- Looking up parts in catalogs and machine manuals.
- Communicating with machine service personnel over the phone.
- Measuring with micrometers.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
