Maintenance Mechanic

Job summary

The primary job function is to maintain production and quality by ensuring the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and listening for issues, using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removing defective parts by dismantling devices with hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining parts' form and texture.
  • Determining changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts with rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Controlling downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricating repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintaining equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock levels, anticipating needs, placing, and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Conserving maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
  • Providing mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Preparing mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.

Additional duties include:

  • Maintaining technical knowledge through workshops, reviewing publications, and networking.
  • Ensuring team continuity by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributing to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.

Essential job functions and minimum requirements include:

  1. Safely adjusting molding machine operational parameters.
  2. Repairing EOATs.
  3. Locating root causes of problems.
  4. Communicating clearly in writing, typing, and drawings.
  5. Reading and following mechanical and electrical drawings.
  6. Installing electrical conduit, copper piping, PVC piping, and wiring.
  7. Reading voltage/ohm meters.
  8. Performing preventive maintenance and entering data into the computer system.
  9. Looking up parts in catalogs and machine manuals.
  10. Communicating with machine service personnel over the phone.
  11. Measuring with micrometers.
  12. Performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. At least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
