Job Summary

IFF is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic for our Terre Haute, IN location.

The mechanic reports to the maintenance leader and is responsible for installing, modifying, and maintaining mechanical and other equipment/systems in the plant. The candidate must be proficient in millwright skills and have expertise in areas such as pipefitting, welding, and sheet metal.

Responsibilities:

• Possess knowledge of chemical plant equipment and learn specific process operations, systems, and personnel efficiently. Capable of independently installing, modifying, and maintaining equipment.
• Interpret schematic drawings and vendor documentation accurately.
• Design, plan, and construct special devices, supports, and components for equipment as needed.
• Manage inventory by withdrawing equipment, components, and materials from the stockroom and ordering materials from vendors.
• Identify mechanical or other issues and initiate corrective actions.
• Perform routine maintenance using the work order system and work management process.
• Adhere to critical quality, environmental, and safety policies and procedures.
• Participate actively in departmental meetings and work sessions.
• Install complex piping systems efficiently by cutting, preparing, and assembling piping components.
• Prepare metal components for welding and execute the appropriate welding processes.
• Apply detailed machine shop practices with a focus on quality and precision.

Requirements:

• Availability for overtime, emergency call-ins, and call-outs. Must maintain a working telephone number with message capabilities.
• Ability to communicate via email, radio, and other standard methods.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds routinely and heavier weights occasionally with assistance or lifting devices. Capable of working in confined or difficult-to-reach areas.
• An associate's degree in industrial maintenance or completion of a craft apprenticeship-to-journeyman training is preferred. Chemical plant maintenance experience is advantageous.
• Proficiency in using a personal computer, including applications such as Microsoft Teams, email, SAP, Excel, and Word, is essential.
