Performs varied facilities maintenance functions including but not limited to; plumbing, steam fitting, pipe covering, mechanical systems, component overhaul, electrical bed maintenance and repair, pneumatic control adjustment, steel fabrication and welding. Assists other trades with installations and repairs as needed.

Essential Functions: Roles and Responsibilities

• Performs scheduled preventative maintenance tasks per outlined in the department's Policy and Procedure manual.
• Performs daily maintenance on all boilers.
• Troubleshoots and repairs all equipment in every mechanical room with limited assistance.
• Performs daily rounds of all departments, addressing documented issues and repairing abnormalities such as burnt-out lights or stained ceiling tiles.
• Performs machinery surveillance rounds, reports abnormalities, and makes minor repairs or adjustments.
• Adjusts or replaces all types of valves.
• Familiar with all types of controls: thermostats, pressure switches, low water controls.
• Operates and maintains all equipment in Patient Care and office areas under Maintenance jurisdiction.
• Completes assignments timely and professionally, bringing necessary tools and parts to avoid unnecessary trips.
• Specifies materials required for repairs and new installations.
• Records work completed within 48 hours of task completion.

Job Requirements:

Required Skills: Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily; effective verbal and written communication skills with diverse groups.

Minimum Education: High School or Trade School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Work Experience: 2-3 years building maintenance experience; boiler room experience preferred.

Required Licenses: Valid Driver's License for responding to offsite maintenance calls.

Functional Demands: Must lift 50 lbs; wear protective equipment if required.

Age-Specific Criteria: Non-patient care provider.

All staff must be vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
