Job summary

Catalent is seeking a Process Maintenance Technician for our Manassas, VA site. This on‑site role supports the Consumer Health division, focusing on preventive and corrective maintenance of manufacturing equipment, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

The technician will troubleshoot, repair, and uphold GMP, SOP, HACCP, and FQP standards. The position requires hands‑on maintenance skills, ability to run conduit and wire control panels per NEC guidelines, and

Qualifications

  • Associate degree with 2+ years of relevant experience or high‑school diploma with 5+ years of relevant experience, or technical/vocational training required.
  • Background in industrial maintenance or skilled trades in the food industry is preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot various types of equipment.
  • Hands‑on experience with current machinery or similar required.
  • Technicians must be able to run conduit and wire electrical control panels according to NEC guidelines.
  • Ability to program Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs.
  • Pipefitting, plumbing, welding, and fabrication skills are preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and vendor documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic preventive maintenance, mechanical maintenance, and repairs across the site and assist with small‑scale process improvement projects.
  • Build foundations for machines, grind and file machine parts.
  • Construct and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
  • Transfer equipment to the applicable site for maintenance to avoid contamination or safety hazards.
  • Help maintain good housekeeping in mechanical and facility areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the repair shop, maintenance office, and storage areas, including all equipment, tools, supplies, and materials.
  • Observe and follow GMP, SOP, HACCP, and FQP.

Process Maintenance Technician

Position Summary
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday 10:00 pm – 6:30 am
  • 100% on‑site location: Manassas, VA

The Manassas, Virginia site is part of the Consumer Health division and provides expanded capabilities in soft chews and lozenges. With extensive development and manufacturing expertise and a wide range of flavors, ingredients, and colors available, we help create engaging new products that consumers will love.

The Process Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing emergency and routine maintenance on all manufacturing equipment, including equipment changeovers, and assisting production personnel as necessary to minimize downtime. The Technician is also responsible for the installation and repair of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and ensuring that equipment is maintained in top working condition through troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance.

Role

  • Other duties as assigned.
Candidate
  • Associate degree with 2+ years of relevant experience or high‑school diploma with 5+ years of relevant experience, or technical/vocational training required.
  • Background in industrial maintenance or skilled trades in the food industry is preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot various types of equipment.
  • Hands‑on experience with current machinery or similar required.

  • Job requires walking and standing frequently, talking or hearing regularly, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, or balancing occasionally, and may require sitting, tasting, or smelling seldom.
