Job Summary
Oversee plant general maintenance, infrastructure, storeroom, and preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Drive change through leadership, project work, and business system improvements. Establish the annual maintenance budget and manage spending within the approved budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Work safely, maintain a safe work environment, attend safety training and related meetings.
- Ensure safe completion of projects by Elementis personnel and contractors.
- Supervise Plant Maintenance employees.
- Check completed installations for compliance with standards.
- Participate in safety programs, know safety policies, report incidents, oversee Management of Change, and participate in safety meetings.
- Maintain an environmentally sound facility, follow Emergency Response Plan, report environmental incidents.
- Identify capital requirements and execute projects.
- Support production including off-shift, night, and weekend support.
- Champion JD Edwards system improvements.
- Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Coordinate with local shops for equipment repairs.
- Work with teams to implement outage plans and maintenance projects.
- Resolve mechanical problems using Root Cause Failure Analysis.
- Create equipment inspection checklists.
- Act as outage coordinator for shutdowns.
- Stay updated on maintenance system best practices.
- Participate in safety, maintenance, and production meetings.
Knowledge / Experience / Skills Required
- Ability to establish a new operational culture and drive change; experience in union environments preferred.
- Degree in a relevant discipline.
- 3-5 years of managerial experience with budget responsibility in a chemical or related industry.
- Experience in chemical manufacturing with a focus on maintenance programs.
- Proven management skills in process plants.
- Ability to create innovative solutions and lead teams.
- Strong communication skills to influence at all levels.
Working Relationships
- Report to Plant Manager, collaborate with department managers, and interact with external suppliers, unions, and community.
Level of Autonomy
- Work within defined objectives, consult with Plant Manager on major deviations or opportunities.
- Represent Elementis in contract negotiations related to manufacturing and finances.
- Set targets and monitor maintenance staff performance.
