Job description

With the next generation of aircraft such as the B777-9 and A350F on the horizon, and a new era of market leading products arriving soon, we are looking for our next Maintenance Manager; a role which will bring many opportunities. We are looking for a candidate who is a successful and experienced engineer who wants to take that next step in their career to grow into a role that goes beyond aircraft maintenance and certification, and ultimately into management. This role will be based in Los Angeles.

The role:

1. Overseeing the day-to-day engineering operation within Western America, managing Technical Handling Agents (THA) and supporting daily operations in accordance with Singapore Airworthiness Requirements, including aircraft certification. An Aircraft Engineering B1 License with relevant type ratings is essential.
2. Thinking quickly under pressure, formulating plans, and communicating effectively with the Engineering Head office, local station staff, and handling agents. High communication skills are required. The candidate must work well with stakeholders like SIA airport staff, THA, GHA, etc.
3. Being flexible and on call 24/7 to monitor all aspects of aircraft performance, with travel within the US and outside US to attend courses or resolve operational challenges as needed.

The opportunities:

The successful candidate will learn about operations at LAX, SFO, SEA, and HNL, and gain insights into key components of a successful Line Maintenance Operation, including:

• Understanding procedures and policies of Singapore Airlines, generating reports, investigations, and writing local procedures.
• Managing and monitoring the Technical Handling Agent to ensure safety, schedule adherence, and performance standards.
• Supporting the selection, contracting, and auditing of handling agents, including supporting RFP processes and understanding IATP contracts.
• Learning financial planning, invoicing, and budget management, including invoice verification and approval.
• Understanding spares and inventory management, logistics, and customs clearances.

Post-probation, opportunities include:

• Induction into Singapore’s main base operation, understanding engineering departments and OCC operations.
• Overseeing and supporting US stations, each with unique procedures and capabilities.
• Gaining B777-9 and A350F type ratings, supporting station preparation for these aircraft as operations expand.
• Applying for management courses through Singapore Airlines Training Centre and online learning portals.

Qualifications:

• FAA A&P License, EASA PART-66 B1 Unrestricted license, or other Foreign AML convertible into a CAAS SAR-66 License.
• At least 5 years of experience in line maintenance.
• B777 or A350 (Trent XWB) B1 type rating, or experience with other listed aircraft types such as A380 (RR Trent 900) or B747-400F (PW4000).
• Legal right to work within the US.
