About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Manager to oversee our manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on leadership role designed for an individual who excels at mentoring a maintenance team while remaining actively engaged on the production floor. You will be responsible for driving equipment reliability, optimizing preventative maintenance strategies, managing breakdown responses, and spearheading facility-wide improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will balance team leadership with technical expertise, providing support for mechanical, electrical, PLC, VFD, pneumatic, conveyor, and automated systems. Your primary objective is to ensure consistent equipment performance, minimize unplanned downtime, and cultivate a robust, proactive maintenance culture.

Core Responsibilities
  • Provide daily oversight and guidance to the plant maintenance department.
  • Foster professional growth within the team through consistent coaching, training, and technical mentorship.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the shop floor to assist with complex equipment failures.
  • Perform diagnostics on mechanical, electrical, automation, PLC, VFD, and pneumatic systems.
  • Enhance the effectiveness of existing preventative and predictive maintenance protocols.
  • Utilize the CMMS to track work orders, schedules, equipment history, and operational metrics.
  • Analyze recurring equipment issues to implement permanent corrective solutions.
  • Identify strategic opportunities to lower maintenance costs, scrap rates, and downtime.
  • Drive initiatives aimed at maximizing equipment availability and production output.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of equipment, including installation, modification, commissioning, and removal.
  • Ensure all manufacturing assets are fully operational and ready for production schedules.
  • Manage maintenance projects from initial planning through final execution.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels for critical spare parts.
  • Cultivate productive partnerships with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Analyze maintenance KPIs to pinpoint and address areas for operational improvement.
  • Contribute to Lean Manufacturing and broader continuous improvement efforts.
  • Keep the maintenance shop and fabrication areas clean and well‑organized.
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks are performed in compliance with site safety standards and regulations.
  • Assist with general facility and grounds upkeep as necessary.
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity within industrial maintenance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Proven expertise in industrial electrical troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of PLC and VFD programming and diagnostics.
  • Experience managing and maintaining automated production machinery.
  • Solid understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance methodologies.
  • Proficiency in operating and managing data within a CMMS.
  • Strong analytical skills for root cause identification and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Practical experience with metal fabrication.
  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize competing demands in a high‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industrial electrical and workplace safety protocols.
  • Willingness to work alongside technicians to ensure team success.
Additional Experience

Backgrounds in continuous‑process manufacturing, such as fiber, foam, or textiles, are highly preferred. Experience in the following areas is also considered an asset:

  • Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM)
  • Operation of forklifts and scissor lifts
  • Working in confined spaces
  • Performing tasks at heights
  • Maintenance of fire alarm systems
  • Equipment commissioning and installation
  • Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
Leadership Expectations

This role is not intended for those who prefer to manage from behind a desk. We are looking for a leader who is passionate about manufacturing equipment, thrives on the production floor, and is ready to jump in when technical challenges arise. You will be expected to elevate the team while refining systems related to spare parts, CMMS usage, and root cause analysis. The focus is to transition the department from a reactive state to a proactive model that identifies the root causes of failures to prevent them from recurring.

Working Environment

This is an on‑site leadership position that requires significant time on the production floor. Candidates must be comfortable in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting and possess the flexibility to support various shifts, weekend work, or overtime as required by critical equipment needs.

Why Join Us?

This role offers a unique chance to make a tangible impact on our manufacturing performance. Rather than maintaining the status quo, you will have the autonomy to develop your team, improve equipment reliability, and refine our maintenance practices to significantly reduce downtime and shape the future of our maintenance operations.
