This position focuses on ongoing maintenance and repair rather than new construction, requiring a blend of mechanical diagnostics, preventive care, and structural welding. The ideal professional will independently resolve mechanical issues, ensure equipment is safely returned to operation, and execute high-quality, non-code weld repairs while maintaining a steadfast commitment to plant reliability and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Execute preventive and corrective maintenance to help ensure the consistent, safe operation of industrial machinery.
Inspect and repair mechanical components like conveyors, pumps, and gearboxes to improve overall equipment longevity.
Perform structural welding and metal fabrication to help maintain a safe and functional facility environment.
Prepare materials through cutting, grinding, and fitting before welding, ensuring all work meets quality standards.
Interpret technical manuals, mechanical drawings, and welding specifications to guide repair efforts.
Utilize various welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW) within your authorized skill set.
Analyze recurring mechanical issues to help identify root causes and improve long‑term system performance.
Complete routine maintenance tasks, such as lubrication and component adjustments, to meet manufacturer standards.
Collaborate with other tradespeople and facility staff to help ensure seamless project execution.
Follow strict lockout/tagout procedures to help maintain a zero‑energy environment during all repairs.
Adhere to site‑specific safety protocols, including hot‑work permits and fire watch, to protect the team and facility.
Maintain accurate records of repairs and parts usage to help keep maintenance logs up to date.
Keep tools and workspaces organized to help foster a clean and efficient shop environment.

Physical Requirements

Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds independently and utilizing team lifts for heavier items.
Able to navigate various plant environments, including working at heights or in tight spaces when authorized.
Proficient in using hand tools, grinders, and welding equipment while wearing necessary safety gear.
Comfortable working in diverse industrial settings with varying noise levels and temperatures.

Qualifications

At least 3 years of professional experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or equipment repair.
Proven ability to perform industrial welding (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, or GTAW) and pass a practical weld test.
Strong diagnostic skills for mechanical equipment and the ability to follow complex technical documentation.
Experience maintaining industrial components like bearings, couplings, and guards in manufacturing environments.
Solid understanding of metal preparation, weld quality, and safety controls for hot work.
Familiarity with LOTO, machine guarding, and maintenance documentation; a valid driver’s license is preferred.

Welding tasks are strictly limited to your demonstrated skills and approved project specifications.
This position does not authorize pressure‑vessel welding, crane operation, or electrical work without additional certification.
All repairs and system returns must strictly adhere to plant‑approved permitting and testing protocols.
