Job summary

Franklin County Schools is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to inspect buildings and machinery, perform repairs and installations, and maintain safety standards in school facilities.

The role covers HVAC, electrical work, plumbing, painting, flooring removal/installation, and preventive maintenance, with adherence to building codes and district safety rules. The position is on-site and requires attention to detail and reliable teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and machinery for defects;
• Repair and maintain machinery, plumbing, physical structures, and electrical wiring fixtures in accordance with building codes;
• Install electrical equipment and repair or replace wiring and fixtures;
• Perform air conditioning and refrigeration repairs;
• Perform preventive maintenance to buildings and equipment;
• Paint walls, floors, woodwork, and building fixtures;
• Remove and install carpet, vinyl composition tile, and drop ceilings;
• Care for the tools, equipment, and material under their supervision, seeing that they are stored properly, clean and in good condition;
• Know and follow all safety rules and proper procedures associated with the responsibilities of the job;
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

To ensure the safety and welfare of students and staff, the district shall require criminal history background checks and fingerprinting of applicants for teaching positions and any other positions that require proximity to children. Additionally, satisfactory results from a required pre-employment drug screen as well as checks with various state/federal registries are required before an applicant is actually employed by Franklin County Schools.
