Job summary

Tyson Foods, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Leader to ensure PMs and Work Orders are completed on schedule and to report to the Maintenance Manager and Shift Supervisors daily.

You will train team members, perform inspections, and uphold safety, quality, and efficiency while aligning with SOPs and company values. You will lead a team in a dynamic environment, oversee equipment readiness, and coordinate with supervisors on installations, rebuilds, and upgrades, with emphasis on safety compliance

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Mechanics/Automotive or Electrical Technology preferred.
• 1–2 years' experience in Facility Maintenance and/or Automotive Mechanic.
• Trained in the use of CMMS.
• Excellent attention to detail, time management and organization.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all work orders on the shift are completed on time and tracked.
• Train shift team members on the PM Program, Work Orders and SOPs.
• Communicate expectations regarding teamwork, attitude and performance.
• Verify the Pre-Operational status of all equipment.
• Maintain and update Lock Out Tag Out program.
• Coordinate with Supervisors and Manager for installations, rebuilds and upgrades.
• Ensure GMPs, HAACP, PSM, safety programs and company policies are followed.
• Audit departmental procedures and implement improvements.
• Collaborate with other department Leaders and Managers.
• Gain working knowledge of equipment and utility systems.
• Monitor ammonia refrigeration equipment per process safety management.

Job Details

Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson Foods will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 90 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.

Pay Range: $22.35 - $31.95 (pay based on experience) + $2 attendance bonus + $2 premium $3 shift differential for B shift. Hours: Rotating 12 hr shift Schedules 2-2-3 1st Shift: 5:30 am - 5:30 pm or upon completion of assigned work B Shift: 5:30 pm - 5:30 am or upon completion of assigned work

SUMMARY

The Maintenance Leader will ensure that all assigned PMs and Work Orders are completed in a timely fashion and will report to the Maintenance Manager and Shift Supervisors via a daily pass down. The Leader will assist with departmental training and coaching of team members, perform daily inspections and audits, and ensure the team members are performing in accordance to the departmental SOP's while maintaining company policies and values of safety, quality and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure all work orders assigned to the shift are assigned correctly and completed on time while tracking and assessing individual associates workload
• Train all shift team members on the PM Program, Work Orders and Standard Operating Procedures
• Communicate expectations to team members in regards to team work, attitude and work performance while continually assessing individual performance
• Verify the Pre-Operational status of all equipment
• Maintain and update Lock Out Tag Out program
• Coordinate with Departmental Supervisors and Manager to plan all details for installations, rebuilds, and upgrades
• Ensure all GMP's, HAACP, PSM Program, Company Policies and Safety Programs are followed at all times
• Continually audit and validate all departmental procedures revising when necessary
• Effectively cooperate and communicate with other department's Leaders and Managers
• Obtain excellent working knowledge of all equipment and their components throughout the facility as well as all utility systems.
• Monitor and maintain ammonia refrigeration equipment in accordance with process safety management
• Complete and maintain all required reports
• Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven leadership abilities
• Strong mechanical background required
• Ability to use hand tools and trades type tools
• Computer skills, MS Word, Excel Database, and e-mail
• Trained in the Maintenance of CMMS
• Excellent attention to detail, time management and organization skills
• Highly motivated self-starter who is willing to implement new processes and ideas
• Willingness to work overtime as required

Education and/or Experience

Associates degree in Mechanics/Automotive or Electrical Technology preferred 1-2 years' experience in Facility Maintenance and/or Automotive Mechanic Some training in electrical principals and troubleshooting preferred.

Communication Skills

Must be able to communicate effectively.

Other Skills

Computer skills. General knowledge of Microsoft Office knowledge or training preferred.

Physical Requirements / Environment

• Stand/Walk: Continuously (at least 8 hours a day)
• Lift/Carry: Frequently (1-10 lbs.), occasionally (up to 35-50 lbs.)
• Grasp: Frequently (3-4 hours a day) Occasionally (1-3 hours a day); bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder, crouch, kneel, push/pull
• Continuously working around moving machinery, both inside and out with changes in temperature and humidity, exposure to dust and fumes, occasionally working on a ladder at unprotected heights, around and amongst dead birds and a strong chicken odor
