Job summary

Monroe Springs Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Monroe, MI is seeking an experienced Maintenance Assistant to lead maintenance operations, ensure safety, and create a comfortable environment for residents, families, staff and visitors.

The role requires long-term care maintenance leadership experience and hands-on oversight of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety systems. This position emphasizes proactive leadership and regulatory readiness within a skilled nursing facility.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility, Healthcare Setting or Long-Term Care setting.
• Strong knowledge of Life Safety Code requirements and healthcare facility regulations.
• Experience with preventative maintenance programs and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to troubleshoot building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee all maintenance operations for the facility.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and life safety regulations.
• Manage preventative maintenance programs and documentation.
• Oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, emergency power, and building systems.
• Maintain survey readiness and support state and federal inspections.
• Coordinate vendor services and contractor activities.
• Manage maintenance budgets, supplies, and inventory.
• Respond to facility emergencies and after-hours maintenance issues as needed.
• Lead, coach, and develop maintenance team members.
• Partner with department leaders to support resident care and facility operations.
