Job summary

Vesuvius in Kentucky, US, seeks an experienced industrial maintenance technician. The role requires a Journeyman’s card or 2 years of technical training, plus 5 years of maintenance experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC systems.

You will troubleshoot, repair breakdowns, perform PMs, and participate in ERT activities while maintaining safety and quality throughout manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

• Must have a Maintenance Journeyman’s card or completion of 2 years of technical courses.
• Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience and troubleshooting in electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLCs.
• Physically fit for heavy manual labor and able to operate a forklift.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

• Ensure personal safety and adherence to HSE standards.
• Maintain housekeeping and organize the work area.
• Breakdowns, PMs, capital projects and scheduled maintenance.
• Read and interpret pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical prints.
• Weld, burn, pipe fit and perform electrical assembly as needed.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and perform timely repairs.
• Work with PLCs and understand PLC logic.
• Use maintenance tools and operate a lift truck when required.
• Carry tool belt with essential tools at all times.
• Assist with plumbing, light fixtures, heaters, and lift truck repairs as needed.
• Be an active member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).

Requirements

1. Must have the ability to work safely and abide by all Company HSE standards.


2. Must possess a Maintenance Journeyman’s card for industrial maintenance work -or- minimum of 2 years technical courses from an accredited vocational/technical school or college. Courses completed will include hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, PLC’s, machine repair, or a combination of courses deemed appropriate.


3. Must have at least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience and qualified troubleshooting skills in the fields of electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC’s.


4. Must be physically fit to perform heavy manual labor.


5. Must be a qualified lift truck operator.


6. Must have good communication skills both written and verbal, and the ability to keep accurate records.


7. Must possess own basic tools needed for the position.


8. Working knowledge of microprocessor machine controls (PLC’s) required.


9. Must be quality conscious and apply good HSE practices in all repair/maintenance activities.


10. Must be an independent worker and have proven excellent work attendance record.


11. Must have the ability to effectively follow complex instructions.


12. Will be an active member of the ERT.

Duties

7. Will be required to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and make timely repairs.


8. Will be required to work with and understand PLC’s.


9. Must have the ability and skills to use maintenance hand and power tools.


10. Will operate a lift truck as required.


11. Any other duties that may be required of the position, including but not limited to plumbing, light fixtures, heaters and lift truck/man-lift repairs.


12. Will be expected to carry tool belt with minimum tools at all times
