Job summary

The City of Edina is seeking a Maintenance Technician III for Centennial Lakes Park to maintain park buildings and grounds and assist with special events and building operations.

You will operate equipment for grounds and facilities, perform minor repairs, ensure safety, and support outdoor operations in varied weather, including weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with two years of grounds/buildings maintenance experience.
• Valid Minnesota driver’s license is required.
• Experience operating grounds equipment and performing minor repairs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varied weather; including weekends/evenings/holidays.

Job description

The Maintenance Technician III - Centennial Lakes Park is responsible for maintaining park buildings and grounds and assisting with special events and building operations.

• Operate equipment for maintenance of grounds and facilities including snow removal equipment
• Ensure buildings and grounds are operational and safe for daily functions
• Clean and maintain buildings and grounds
• Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on buildings and grounds as directed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Inspect all assigned areas and identify any issues or safety concerns
• Keep walkways and other areas free of snow, ice and debris
• Report any issues or concerns to manager.

• General cleaning duties including cleaning floors, windows, restrooms and emptying trash
• Keep the lake free of trash and organic matter
• Removes snow and resurfaces skating rink

Minimum Qualifications:

The job requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of general building and grounds maintenance experience. Incumbents must have a valid MN driver’s license.

Desired Qualifications:

Customer Service experience and experience working in an outdoor park or facility open to the public.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required for Successful Job Performance:

• Knowledge of building maintenance and custodial maintenance duties
• Ability to safely operate a variety of building and grounds maintenance equipment and tools such as tractors, skid-steer loaders, mowers, aerators, and snow removal equipment
• Ability to make minor repairs to buildings and fixtures
• The ability to work independently to prioritize work requests
• The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form as well as tactfully and courteously with the public and City staff

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Physical effort requires the employee be able to lift up to 100 pounds intermittently and 25 pounds

occasionally.

Working Conditions:

Approximately 70% of the work is performed outdoors, with exposure to a variety of weather conditions. Work hours may vary and are weather dependent and include weekends, evenings and holidays. Desired availability includes Sundays and Mondays approximately 6am-1pm.
