Job summary

St. Mark Parish in Shoreline, WA is seeking a part-time facilities maintenance worker to perform general maintenance of parish and school buildings and grounds, including minor electrical, plumbing, lighting and heating (gas boilers), as a stop gap until a full-time manager is found.

The role involves preventative maintenance, basic repairs, inventory of tools, irrigation work, and contributing to budgets. Physical tasks include lifting up to 50 lbs and interacting with parishioners respectfully.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a facility maintenance worker/handyman.
• Experience with hardware, tools, and electrical equipment.
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Some knowledge of natural gas HVAC systems helpful.
• Must pass background check and provide 3 references.

Job Location: 0026 St. Mark Parish, Shoreline - Shoreline, WA 98155

Position Type: Part Time

Salary Range: $31.00 - $35.00 Hourly

POSITION PURPOSE

The temporary facilities maintenance position will provide general maintenance of St. Mark parish and school buildings and grounds, including minor electrical, plumbing, lighting and heating (natural gas boilers), as a stop gap until a full-time facilities maintenance manager is found.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs preventative maintenance to buildings and grounds to minimize plumbing, mechanical, electrical, lighting and heating system (boilers) failures.
• Diagnosis problems and make repairs to facilities, including plumbing and mechanical repairs, minor electrical. Other task may include pressure washing of sidewalks and asphalt, painting, some carpentry, lighting checks and organizing work garage and workspaces.
• Taking inventory of tools and maintenance supplies
• Drip irrigation system repairs: watering hoses, sprinkler heads, timers, etc.
• Provides recommendations input to supervisor for preparation of monthly/annual maintenance, supplies and capital repairs budgets.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by Supervisor and/or Pastor.

Qualifications

• Has demonstrated good communication skills and is able to take direction as needed
• Is well organized with an attention to detail and apt in problem-solving
• Proven experience as a facility maintenance worker/handyman
• Experience with hardware, tools, and electrical equipment
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Some knowledge of natural gas HVAC systems helpful
• The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
• Scale Ladders and use mechanical lifts to access roofs and high-reach areas
• Frequently moves boxes weighing up to 50lbs across campus
• Frequently stands, kneels reaches, bends, grabs, holds, twists etc. to perform maintenance tasks.
• Works indoors and outdoors throughout the year as duties require.
• Ability to walk, bend, stand, and or kneel for the duration of shift
• Ability to carry and use tools to perform tasks: Vacuums, Backpack Vacuums, Mops, Brooms, Brushes, Ladders, Stools, Riding Mower, Saws, lawn equipment, etc.
• Ability to work with chemical cleaning agents
• Ability and willingness to engage with parishioners and guests in a professional and respectful manner.
• Must Pass Background Check as prescribed.
• Must provide 3 references (Not related to you)
