Sacred Heart Parish in Lacey, WA is seeking a dedicated Maintenance & Groundskeeping team member to perform preventive maintenance on parish facilities and grounds. You will diagnose issues, perform repairs, and ensure the safety and cleanliness of buildings, vehicles, and outdoor spaces.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to work indoors and outdoors year-round, and a commitment to respectful interaction with parishioners and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience with plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC systems.
• Proven handyman/facility maintenance experience.
• Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment.
• Must be able to pass background checks and drug screenings.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on buildings and grounds.
• Diagnose and repair issues with parish facilities and vehicles.
• Inspect boilers and other mechanical systems for proper operation.
• Secure buildings when not in use and set up for events.
• Maintain grounds: mowing, pruning, fertilizing, leaf removal.
• Operate and maintain hand and power tools used in maintenance tasks.
• Assist with cleaning, safety, and compliance tasks as required.
• Interface professionally with parishioners and guests.
• Complete all duties as assigned by supervisor.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION PURPOSE: Provides hands-on maintenance services to buildings, grounds and vehicles.2. ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES: 1. Performs preventive maintenance to buildings and grounds to minimize plumbing, mechanical, electrical, heating and air conditioning system failures. 2. Diagnoses problems and makes needed repairs to buildings. 3. Diagnoses problems with parish vehicles and maintenance equipment and makes needed repairs. 4. Checks boilers for proper operation making adjustments as appropriate. 5. Secures buildings when not in use. 6. Sets up for special events (e.g. chairs, tables and other equipment for special events). 7. Collects and removes litter from the grounds on a daily basis. 8. Maintains grounds performing functions such as mowing, watering, pruning, fertilizing, planting, and leaf removal. 9. Performs preventive maintenance and makes repairs to hand and power equipment used in the performance of duties. 10. Performs other duties as may be assigned.## Qualifications* Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.* Successful completion of an Archdiocese of Seattle Background Check.* Previous experience in maintenance word.* Working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and related mechanical and building systems.* Due to job requirements a candidate will need a current driver's license,* Some level of experience with construction, plumbing, electrical, grounds maintenance etc.* Proven experience as a handyman/facility maintenance worker.* Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment.* Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, mechanical or HVAC systems.* The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation + Scale Ladders and use mechanical lifts to access roofs and high-reach areas + Frequently moves boxes weighing up to 50lbs across campus + Frequently stands, kneels reaches, bends, grabs, holds, twists etc. to perform maintenance tasks. + Works indoors and outdoors throughout the year as duties require. + Ability to walk, bend, stand, and or kneel for the duration of shift + Ability to carry and use tools to perform tasks: Vacuums, Backpack Vacuums, Mops, Brooms, Brushes, Ladders, Stools, Riding Mower, Saws, lawn equipment, etc. + Ability to work with chemical cleaning agents + Ability and willingness to engage with parishioners and guests in a professional and respectful manner. + Must Pass Background Check and Drug Screenings as prescribed. + Must provide 3 references (Not related to you)*Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.**Benefits: Eligible positions receive a comprehensive package of benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, accidental death and disability, long term disability, pension, 403(b), HSA, FSA, and generous sick leave, vacation and holidays.*
