Job summary

Archdiocese of Seattle is seeking a Maintenance & Groundskeeping professional for Sacred Heart Parish in Lacey, WA. The role is full-time, on-site, and paid hourly. Responsibilities include building and grounds maintenance, equipment repairs, event setup and safety of facilities.

The ideal candidate can lift 50 pounds, pass a background check, and has experience with plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and related systems. A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance to buildings and grounds to minimize plumbing, mechanical, electrical, heating, and cooling failures.
• Diagnoses problems and makes needed repairs to buildings.
• Maintains parish grounds with mowing, watering, pruning, fertilizing, planting and leaf removal.
• Performs maintenance and repairs on parish vehicles and equipment.
• Sets up venues for special events and secures facilities when not in use.
• Collects litter daily and ensures safety for parishioners and guests.

Reports to: Regional Facilities Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION PURPOSE

Provides hands-on maintenance services to buildings, grounds and vehicles.

ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES

• Performs preventive maintenance to buildings and grounds to minimize plumbing, mechanical, electrical, heating and air conditioning system failures.
• Diagnoses problems and makes needed repairs to buildings.
• Diagnoses problems with parish vehicles and maintenance equipment and makes needed repairs.
• Checks boilers for proper operation making adjustments as appropriate.
• Secures buildings when not in use.
• Sets up for special events (e.g. chairs, tables and other equipment for special events).
• Collects and removes litter from the grounds on a daily basis.
• Maintains grounds performing functions such as mowing, watering, pruning, fertilizing, planting, and leaf removal.
• Performs preventive maintenance and makes repairs to hand and power equipment used in the performance of duties.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Successful completion of an Archdiocese of Seattle Background Check.
• Previous experience in maintenance word.
• Working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and related mechanical and building systems.
• Due to job requirements a candidate will need a current driver's license,
• Some level of experience with construction, plumbing, electrical, grounds maintenance etc.
• Proven experience as a handyman/facility maintenance worker.
• Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment.
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, mechanical or HVAC systems.
• The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
• Scale Ladders and use mechanical lifts to access roofs and high-reach areas
• Frequently moves boxes weighing up to 50lbs across campus
• Frequently stands, kneels reaches, bends, grabs, holds, twists etc. to perform maintenance tasks.
• Works indoors and outdoors throughout the year as duties require.
• Ability to walk, bend, stand, and or kneel for the duration of shift
• Ability to carry and use tools to perform tasks: Vacuums, Backpack Vacuums, Mops, Brooms, Brushes, Ladders, Stools, Riding Mower, Saws, lawn equipment, etc.
• Ability to work with chemical cleaning agents
• Ability and willingness to engage with parishioners and guests in a professional and respectful manner.
• Must Pass Background Check and Drug Screenings as prescribed.
• Must provide 3 references (Not related to you)
