Job summary

Batesville, a leader in the death care industry, is seeking a supervisor to oversee production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include scheduling, training, quality control, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with 1–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, strong Microsoft Office skills, and proven ability to lead Lean/CI projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in any field with 1–5 years supervisory manufacturing experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) including charts, Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Strong communication skills and experience with LEAN or CI initiatives.
  • 3–5 years supervisory experience managing a team of 15–30 employees in a fast-paced manufacturing operation.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise production employees and assign work and schedules.
  • Ensure production quality and quantity targets are met; monitor staffing needs.
  • Maintain safety programs and enforce regulations.
  • Record time and production data; ensure compliance with standard work.

Your Role at Batesville:

Responsible for providing direct supervision to production employees in department(s) including work scheduling and assignment, employee training, ensuring production quality and quantity requirements are met, evaluating staffing needs, administering safety, communication, teambuilding, etc. programs.

The expected base salary range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000 per year. Actual compensation within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, skills, experience, and location.

What You’ll Do:
  • Clearly and regularly communicates pertinent performance, work schedule, and activities to the work teams.
  • Facilitates 5S by assuring 5S maps and assignment sheets are current and by verifying conformance to the standard conditions.
  • Reports all accidents, injuries, and near misses to production manager, assures all documentation is completed and tracks countermeasures.
  • Assures proper PPE is used per plant requirements.
  • Proactively audits department for at risk conditions or behaviors.
  • Assures associates' compliance to Standard Work and Job Instructions.
  • Assures products passed on to next department meet quality specifications.
  • Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
  • Computes amount of stock and supplies required for operation, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from storage area.
  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products, which fail to meet standards.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve safety, production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, and standards of work.
  • Mmaintains time and production records.
  • Conveys company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Initiates and/or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Directly supervises 2-50 hourly employees in the manufacturing operation.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance to the Company policies, the Code of Ethical Business Conduct and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Education Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in any field; and 1 to 5 years related manufacturing supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in manufacturing operations.
  • Skills/Experience Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel, i.e. Charts & Graphs, Pivot Tables, V Look ups, etc.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to train/manage/lead/understand LEAN or CI activities and initiatives.
  • At least 3 to 5 years supervisory experience managing a team of 15 to 30 employees in a fast-paced manufacturing operation.
  • Experience and success implementing Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement concepts, principles and practices (including, but not limited to 5S, CI, Flow, PFEP, Pull Systems/KanBans, VSM, etc.)
  • Production process trouble-shooting experience.
  • Travel Some travel is required.
