Job summary

Batesville is seeking a Second Shift Superintendent in Manchester, TN to lead day‑to‑day production, drive safety, quality, and cost improvements, and supervise a team of salaried and hourly associates. The role partners with cross‑functional teams to ensure on‑time, safe, and efficient operations.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in industrial/business management or engineering, 6+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, and strong Lean/CI skills.

Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Business Management or Engineering and 6+ years related experience or equivalent.
  • Experience leading operations teams in manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Experience with Lean Management and Continuous Improvement concepts (5S, CI, Flow, KanBan, VSM).

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety culture and ensure all associates follow policies and regulations.
  • Provide leadership to meet budgetary goals.
  • Analyze daily production and operating reports; implement countermeasures to resolve issues.
  • Lead lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop organization and procure high levels of talent to meet strategy and tactical plans.
  • Provide interventions to improve human performance and enforce plant work rules.
  • Foster open, respectful communication and resolve scheduling and production issues.
  • Recognize and address worker concerns in a fair, proactive manner.

We are currently seeking a Second Shift Superintendent to join our team in Manchester, TN.

Your Role At Batesville

As a Second Shift Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing the day‑to‑day production process and for the optimization of operations in terms of safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The Production Operations Manager supervises a team of salaried and hourly associates and collaborates with multiple business partners throughout the plant to ensure quality products are produced efficiently and on time in a safe environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Drive a culture of respect for safety and people, leading by example and ensuring all associates follow all policies, procedures, practices, and regulations.
  • Provides leadership to meet budgetary goals.
  • Analyzes daily production and operating reports and facilitates countermeasures to resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to meet policy deployment objectives.
  • Provides leadership in teaching and developing the organization in lean manufacturing principles.
  • Provides leadership to develop organization and procures high levels of talent to meet company strategy, as well as tactical plans.
  • Assesses, analyzes and provides interventions to improve human performance.
  • Provides leadership to provide consistent enforcement of plant work rules.
  • Foster a culture of open and respectful communication.
  • Resolve operating, scheduling and production issues as needed.
  • Resolves worker issues at lowest level in a consistent, unbiased proactive manner.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company policies, the Code of Ethical Business Conduct and applicable laws.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
What You’ll Bring
  • Availability to travel 10% of the time.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Industrial/Business Management or Engineering preferred: and a minimum of 6 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience leading successful operations teams in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience leading improvement efforts in production, quality, or profitability.
  • Experience with change management/transformation initiatives.
  • Experience successfully implementing Lean Management, Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement concepts, principles, and practices (including, but not limited to 5S, CI, Flow, PFEP, Pull Systems/KanBan, VSM, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively one on one and in small groups. Easily articulates ideas and needs so people at all levels can understand both verbal and written communication.
  • Highly organized and self-directed with ability to prioritize projects.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities under demanding circumstances.
  • Ability to critically analyze situations and offer solutions.
  • Must be willing to work flexible work schedules to be available nights, weekends, and after hours if necessary.
