Job summary

The City of Columbia SC is seeking a maintenance worker to support operations in designated divisions. The role involves heavy physical work under close supervision and adherence to procedures. You will perform tree pruning, equipment operation, and basic manual labor while maintaining City vehicles and tools.

Requirement includes a high school diploma or GED and a valid SC Driver's License; some chainsaw experience is preferred. This is a full-time position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Some chainsaw experience preferred.
• Valid South Carolina Class D Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Prunes or removes trees in City rights-of-way.
• Operates chainsaws, wood chippers, stump grinders and other tools.
• Loads/unloads materials onto vehicles and cleans work sites.
• Inspects equipment and reports defects to supervisor.
• Drives and operates trucks and equipment; performs routine maintenance.
