Job summary

City of Columbia is seeking a Maintenance Worker to assist in installation, maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and related systems. The role also covers basic carpentry, concrete and finishing work, and upkeep of city facilities and parking areas.

The position requires physical stamina, the ability to read manuals, and willingness to work outside regular hours as needed. HVAC certification is a plus, valid SC driver’s license may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• HVAC certification preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret basic plans and manuals.
• Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems and equipment.
• Support general carpentry and minor building construction/renovation work.
• Assist in maintaining and repairing City parking facilities.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs and keep accurate maintenance records.
