Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a Maintenance Generalist for our Forest, MS facility. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment and facility systems to minimize downtime and ensure food safety.

This role emphasizes safety culture, documentation, and hands-on maintenance across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Ideal candidates have 1 year of maintenance experience in the last two years and can read manuals and schematics.

Qualifications

• 1 year maintenance experience within the past 2 years.
• Ability to read manuals, drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Tyson safety culture and comply with policies.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and plumbing systems.
• Repair and replace motors, pumps, bearings, shafts, conveyors, augers, couplings, steam and water lines.
• Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and minor electrical repairs.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, and schematics.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and required documentation.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, forklifts, and other maintenance equipment as trained.
• Support emergency repairs to minimize production interruptions.

Job Details

The Maintenance Generalist is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment, machinery, and facility systems to support efficient plant operations. This position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, ensuring food safety, maintaining equipment reliability, and promoting a safe work environment while adhering to Tyson Foods policies and procedures. Responsibilities are based on existing Tyson maintenance job descriptions and Forest facility references.

Essential Functions

• Maintain and promote Tyson’s safety culture.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems.
• Repair and replace motors, pumps, bearings, shafts, conveyors, augers, couplings, steam and water lines.
• Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and minor electrical repairs.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, and schematics.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete required documentation.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, forklifts, and other maintenance equipment as trained and certified.
• Support emergency repairs and respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize production interruptions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by maintenance leadership.
• Must have 1 year maintenance experience within the immediate past 2 years.

Rehiring Criteria

Applicant must not have worked for Tyson more than a total of 3 times prior. Applicants must also have completed at least 180 days since their last employment with Tyson.
