Job summary

Tyson Foods in Springdale, AR is seeking a maintenance technician for C Shift to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment in a dynamic production environment. You will document actions taken, respond to breakdowns, and perform preventive maintenance in accordance with Tyson policies.

The role requires ability to diagnose electrical/mechanical issues, lift up to 70 lbs, and work in variable temperatures.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an industrial maintenance program or has equivalent experience.
• Completion of certifications in electronics or industrial maintenance required or preferred.
• Proven ability to perform mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment and assets following Tyson policies and safety procedures.
• Provide troubleshooting and repair of mechanical malfunctions.
• Prepare written documentation of actions taken to correct equipment problems.
• Respond to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergencies.
• Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule.
• Complete paperwork and reports as required.
• Comply with lockout/tagout, confined space, and other safety programs.
• Perform diagnosis and repairs without supervision; assist other mechanics as needed.
• Ability to start equipment before production startup and conclude shutdown without supervision.
• Work in varying temperatures and humidity, potentially dusty or challenging conditions.
• Lift up to 70 lbs as required.

Work schedule: Wednesday 12 PM - 6 PM; Thursday - Saturday 6 AM - 6 PM (12-hour shifts)

Job description

• Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
• Provide troubleshooting and repair of any mechanical malfunction.
• Prepare written documentation of actions taken to correct equipment problems.
• Responds to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergency situations.
• Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule.
• Complete appropriate paperwork and reports
• Must comply with lockout/ tagout, confined space, and all other safety programs.
• Must be able to perform mechanical and basic electrical trouble shooting and repairs.
• Able to perform diagnosis and repairs without supervision.
• Capable of starting all equipment before production startup and shutdown without supervision
• Ability to assist with other mechanics as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Work in temperature that will vary with outside ambient temperatures and humidity. It can be dusty, warm, cold and/or humid.
• The positions physical requirements will include standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping and the ability to climb ladders, lifts, and scaffolds.
• Lifting will also be required and depending on department could be up to 70lbs.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an industrial maintenance program (proof of enrollment required) or have 6 months of experience working in an industrial maintenance or 1 year of classroom training from technical college (proof of training with passing grade required) or must have graduated from a technical college with a certification in Electronics technology or industrial maintenance technology. Industrial maintenance will be considered work as a fabricator, electrician, or plant maintenance listed on the application.

There is 180 days (6 months) waiting period for former Tyson Foods team members.

Max of two previous Tyson employments to be considered for hire.

This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex only.
