Job summary

Abbott Laboratories in Altavista, VA is seeking a senior facilities and maintenance leader to drive reliability across the plant. You will set strategy for asset maintenance, own the site budget, and lead a team of engineers and planners to optimize preventive maintenance and capital projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Experience in engineering, maintenance, or related roles within manufacturing.
• Experience in regulated manufacturing with leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the maintenance engineering function, setting strategy and standards for asset reliability and preventive maintenance.
• Own the site maintenance budget including labor, MRO, and capital initiatives.
• Develop reliability improvement plans using RM, RCM, FMEA and root cause analysis.
• Partner with Operations to align maintenance with production schedules and safety/quality goals.
• Provide leadership to maintenance engineers and planners; coach and develop bench strength.
• Lead evaluation, installation and sustainment of new equipment and capital projects.
• Ensure maintenance meets Abbott, regulatory and food safety requirements (OSHA, FDA, GMP).
• Champion continuous improvement through standard work, CMMS, and data-driven decisions.
• Serve as site leader during breakdowns, drive rapid recovery and corrective actions.
