Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa, a Forbes 4-Star luxury property, seeks a Maintenance Engineer to uphold the hotel’s high standards by maintaining and repairing mechanical systems, electrical equipment, and plumbing. You will perform preventative maintenance, respond to urgent repairs, and ensure safety compliance across guest rooms and public areas.
Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, basic trades knowledge, and a track record of reliability in hospitality maintenance.

The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa is a luxury property. This 290 room property has four penthouse suites, over 17,000 square feet of meeting space, expansive exterior space known as the Plaza, the Promenade and the Terrace, and an award-winning food and beverage program. Banquets, Schooners Coastal Kitchen and Bar, Helmsman Lounge, Tidal Coffee, and Room Service provide guests, groups, and local visitors numerous dining options. Vista Blue Spa offers a wide array of services in an outstanding location on the penthouse suite level and hosts the Fitness Center in addition to retail and sundries. The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa is the only Forbes 4-Star property in Monterey, which it has earned annually since 2009.

Serving the property, guests and associates, our Maintenance Engineers keep the hotel in excellent condition. They maintain and repair all mechanical equipment by performing various tasks related to a variety of trades, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical heating and air conditioning and refrigeration. They are knowledgeable and follow all fire, life safety, spa and pool regulations and support our Security and other operating departments in times of emergency.
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Hotel.
Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with the Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma is preferred. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. Prior Maintenance experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid California Driver License. HVAC Certification is preferred.

The pay scale for this position is $25.00 to $27.80 per hour. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual wage rates or salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel experience and education.
