Job summary

Appellation Healdsburg is seeking a Maintenance Engineer I to support daily operations in our maintenance department. You will perform skilled maintenance across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other systems, ensuring reliability and safety for guests and staff.

You will respond to requests promptly, execute preventive maintenance, and mentor junior team members while coordinating with contractors as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
• 1–3 years experience in hotel engineering or 3–5 years in general maintenance, construction, or facilities repairs.
• Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing building systems such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and work orders.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and perform physical labor as needed.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and respond to after-hours emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct skilled maintenance and repair tasks in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems throughout the property.
• Respond quickly to guest and staff service requests while maintaining high professionalism and customer service.
• Execute preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and prolong equipment life.
• Monitor building systems and recommend repairs or upgrades as needed.
• Maintain safety standards and ensure compliance with local building codes and hotel brand requirements.
• Mentor junior team members and assist with on-the-job training when needed.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or projects.
• Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and materials; report usage or shortages.
