Apply now to join an organization where you truly make a difference.Job Duties and Preferred Qualifications:The Maintenance Engineer I – Heating and Air Conditioning is responsible for overseeing, scheduling, and directing a team of up to (5) technicians. This role requires coordinating maintenance activities with building directors, Fire and Police personnel, correctional facility staff, and senior city officials to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently. This position also works closely with other skilled trades to facilitate project coordination and operational continuity.The work schedule for this position is either Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.A valid HVAC Journeyman license is required.Perform daily building checks both physically and through a building automation system computer of all HVAC equipment located within the assigned zone.Must be able to identify, troubleshoot and repair multiple building automation control devices on various DDC platforms.Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and replace pumps, air handling units, VAV units, fan coil units, boilers, VFD's, roof top units, gas furnaces, heat exchangers, exhaust fans, make up air units, VRF systems, ductless split systems, piping, valves, air separators, duct work, registers, diffusers, kitchen refrigeration equipment, galley cooking equipment, pneumatic systems, air compressors.Replace compressors, air filters, belts, bearings, contractors, relays, fuses, building automation components.Review plans, drawings and specifications for renovations and provide comments and recommendations.Provide life cycle analysis of HVAC equipment and estimated costs.Conduct performance appraisals on HVAC technicians.Schedule and monitor work of contractors.Attend pre-bid and pre-construction meetings.Order and maintain a repair parts inventory to ensure there is minimal downtime on HVAC equipment.Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Systems Engineer.-This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory drug testing. Journeyman HVAC license required. Must have a current and valid driver’s license. Preferences Universal Refrigeration Certificate. Master HVAC license. Special Requirements: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required to meet operational needs. This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory drug testing.
