Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach is seeking a Maintenance Engineer - HVAC to oversee a team of three HVAC technicians at the Virginia Beach Recreation Center and other facilities. The role requires a Journeyman HVAC license, a high school diploma or GED, and 5+ years of related experience.

Work hours are Monday–Thursday, 6 am–4:30 pm, with overtime as needed. Responsibilities include performing daily checks, maintaining a wide range of HVAC equipment, and coordinating with department personnel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 5+ years of HVAC experience.
• Journeyman HVAC license and valid driver’s license.
• Preferences: Universal Refrigeration Certificate and Master HVAC license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, schedule and direct a crew of 3 HVAC technicians.
• Perform daily building checks via BAS and equipment.
• Review plans and specifications for renovations and provide comments.
• Maintain and repair HVAC equipment including pumps, AHUs, boilers, VFDs, and rooftop units.
• Order and manage repair parts inventory to minimize downtime.
