Job summary

Durango School District 9-R in Durango, CO is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to support daily facility operations. The role is full-time, with benefits and a start date of September 1, 2026.

Work hours can be four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days, Monday through Friday. Employee housing is available for the 2026/2027 school year, and a $1800 one-time bonus is offered to staff hired this year (pro-rated for late start).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; specialized courses preferred.
• Experience in general building maintenance procedures.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Criminal background check required for hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain HVAC equipment, plumbing, power distribution, fire/life safety, carpentry, painting, and flooring.
• Perform routine and emergency repair and maintenance on structures and equipment.
• Serve as back-up support to Custodial Team and respond to work orders.
• Perform minor repairs from requests and dispatch notes.
• Follow safety and sanitation standards and maintain records for compliance.
