Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation in Durango seeks a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and overhaul a wide range of CDOT equipment. You will work mainly in the shop, with some field tasks, and must be able to obtain/maintain a CDL Class A or B.

Qualifications

• Four years of progressively responsible automotive and heavy equipment repair experience, including one year with heavy diesel equipment.
• Completion of an apprenticeship program or higher level coursework in automotive/heavy equipment mechanics; transcripts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses and repairs vehicle and equipment malfunctions on major systems.
• Overhauls and rebuilds components and equipment.
• Uses test equipment to diagnose defects or malfunctions.
• Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Performs preventive maintenance and annual safety inspections.
