Job summary

Durango School District 9-R is seeking a Landscape and Grounds Maintenance worker for a full-time, 12-month position in Durango, Colorado. The role runs Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week, with benefits including life, health, and dental insurance, plus paid leave. A $1800 one-time bonus is available for new hires starting by October 1, 2026 (pro-rated).

There is workforce housing available for the 2026/2027 year. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Colorado driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; must be 18+ years old.
• Experience in landscaping and horticulture preferred.
• Knowledge of turf management, irrigation, and safe pesticide use in schools.

Responsibilities

• Mowing, edging, aerating lawns and borders.
• Weed and debris removal from walkways and beds.
• Pruning shrubs and trees to maintain health and aesthetics.
• Operate and maintain landscape equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers).
• Maintain irrigation systems and assist with repairs/installation.
• Assist with snow removal during winter.
• Support custodial and playground maintenance as needed.
