Altria in Chester, VA (Park 500) is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to provide mechanical, utilities, and infrastructure engineering support to improve equipment reliability and optimize plant performance.

You will lead troubleshooting, drive continuous improvement, coach technicians, and partner with Production, Maintenance, Reliability, and Utilities teams to implement impactful solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of maintenance and engineering experience in a process manufacturing facility.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develops Maintenance Procedure Use Policy with technical reviews and change management.
  • Acts as SME for equipment failures during root cause investigations.
  • Delivers maintenance input into projects and serves as maintenance representative.
  • Plans and executes projects using union labor and external resources.
  • Supports utility equipment including boilers, chillers, HVAC, steam, and process systems.
  • Collaborates with SMEs to develop work scopes and drive solutions.
  • Provides input to Reliability Team to minimize failures via predictive maintenance.
  • Performs regular field assessments of equipment.
  • Supports asset criticality assessments and maintenance strategy development.

Philip Morris USA is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Chester, VA (Park 500). In this role, you will provide mechanical, utilities, and infrastructure engineering support to improve equipment reliability and optimize plant performance. You'll lead troubleshooting and root cause investigations, drive continuous improvement initiatives, coach maintenance technicians, and partner across Production, Maintenance, Reliability, and Utilities teams to implement impactful solutions.

What you will be doing:
  • Develops Maintenance Procedure Use Policy: Performs technical reviews of procedures; Serves as a technical resource during procedure creation and review; Creates and reviews job procedures and checklists, and initiates procedure Change Management process.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations.
  • Delivers maintenance input into project activities and acts as maintenance representative for projects.
  • Plan and execute projects and support maintenance utilizing internal union labor and external resources. Understand and execute based on union notification processes.
  • Support utility equipment including but not limited to boilers, chillers, air-washers, air compressors, fire systems, HVAC systems, steam, compressed air, chilled water, domestic water, vacuum pumps, dust collection, process and sanitary drain systems.
  • Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts to develop work scopes and drive solutions.
  • Delivers input to the Reliability Team and support reliability initiatives as directed to ensure systems operate dependably by minimizing failures through root cause analysis, predictive maintenance, and failure prevention strategies.
  • Performs regular field assessments of equipment.
  • Support asset criticality assessments and maintenance strategy development.
What we want you to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering and/or professional certification in technical field is preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years proven experience in maintenance and engineering preferably in a process manufacturing facility.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions. The Salary Range for this position is: $91,500.00 - $132,750.00.
