Job summary

Commercial Metals Company (CMC) is seeking candidates for an operations-focused role within our facilities. You will explore multiple functions to learn equipment, processes, and procedures from start to finish, attending daily shift meetings to track progress and gain feedback.

You will collaborate with engineers and non-technical teams to implement new technologies, provide troubleshooting support, and drive improvement projects from design to start-up.

Qualifications

• Proficient in MS Office; SAP experience a plus.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Safety-first mindset; seek improvements to enhance workplace safety.
• Willingness to learn about the steel industry and processes.
• Detail-oriented with a 'get it right the first time' mindset.
• Dependable with flexibility to meet business needs.
• Experience with 2D/3D CAD software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work in various roles within operations to learn equipment, processes from start to finish.
• Attend daily shift meetings to measure progress and obtain feedback.
• Interact with engineers and operations personnel to integrate new technologies and provide troubleshooting support.
• Implement improvement projects from design through installation and start-up.
• Assist in maintaining and improving process systems including PLCs and HMIs.

What You'll Do

• Work in various roles within operations team to learn equipment, processes and procedures from start to finish.
• Attend daily shift meetings to measure progress and obtain feedback.
• Interact with technical engineers and non-technical operations personnel to integrate new technologies and update existing systems, as well as provide technical troubleshooting support to operations.
• Implement improvement projects from design through installation and start-up.
• Assist in maintaining and improving process systems, including programmable logic controllers, process communications networks, and human machine interface equipment.

What You'll Need

• Proficient in MS Office programs – Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint required. SAP experience a plus.
• Strong communication skills required. Must read, speak and understand English language in verbal and written communication
• Shows a safety first mindset; recommends improvements to make the workplace safer for self and others
• Willing to learn about the steel industry and steel-making process; enjoys tackling new challenges.
• Is organized and shows attention to detail, with a ""get it right the first time"" mindset
• Demonstrates dependability in work completion and flexibility in schedule to meet business needs.
• Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software strongly preferred

Your Education

• Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, manufacturing engineering, or related field required
