Job summary

Confidential Healthcare Nursing Center is seeking an experienced Maintenance Director to oversee the facility’s physical plant, equipment, grounds, and maintenance operations, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

The role includes managing preventive maintenance, supervising staff, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring life-safety/regulatory compliance while working within budget.

Qualifications

  • Previous maintenance management in a skilled nursing or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems and preventive maintenance.
  • Familiarity with life-safety systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond to emergencies.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or relevant certifications preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day maintenance and physical plant operations.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for buildings and systems.
  • Coordinate repairs for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire safety, and other systems.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, OSHA and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
  • Coordinate and supervise outside contractors and vendors as needed.
  • Respond to maintenance emergencies and facility-related issues.
  • Inspect the building and grounds for safety hazards and needed repairs.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness and safety programs.
  • Manage maintenance supplies and inventory within budget.
  • Supervise maintenance staff and provide direction as applicable.
  • Collaborate with nursing, administration, housekeeping, dietary, and other departments.
  • Support surveys and inspections and address deficiencies promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, resident-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and physical plant operations of the facility.

  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for building systems, equipment, and essential infrastructure.

  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire safety, and other facility systems.

  • Ensure the facility remains compliant with applicable federal, state, local, OSHA, fire safety, and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance, and required documentation.

  • Coordinate and supervise outside contractors and vendors as needed.

  • Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies and facility-related issues.

  • Inspect the building and grounds regularly and identify potential safety hazards or needed repairs.

  • Assist with emergency preparedness, disaster planning, and facility safety programs.

  • Manage maintenance supplies, equipment, and inventory while working within the facility’s budget.

  • Supervise and provide direction to maintenance staff, as applicable.

  • Work collaboratively with nursing, administration, housekeeping, dietary, and other departments.

  • Participate in surveys and inspections and promptly address identified deficiencies.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, comfortable, and resident-centered environment.

Qualifications
  • Previous maintenance management experience, preferably in a skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, healthcare, or similar environment.

  • Strong knowledge of building systems, preventative maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs.

  • Knowledge of life-safety systems, emergency preparedness, and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond effectively to emergencies.

  • Ability to work independently while also leading and supporting a team.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or relevant certifications preferred.

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
