In this pivotal leadership role, you will oversee all aspects of physical plant operations, preventive maintenance, life safety compliance, and facility management to ensure a safe, comfortable, and top-quality environment for our residents, patients, and staff. Department Leadership: Direct and supervise the facility maintenance team, providing training, scheduling, performance management, and daily guidance.
Operations & Preventative Maintenance: Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive preventive maintenance programs for building systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, safety equipment, and grounds.
Regulatory & Life Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to local, state, and federal codes, including OSHA regulations, Life Safety Codes, and healthcare facility standards.
Budget & Resource Management: Prepare, manage, and monitor the department budget, tracking expenses, ordering inventory, and negotiating cost-effective contracts with vendors and service providers.
Facility Inspections & Projects: Conduct regular physical plant inspections, manage capital improvement projects, and oversee third-party contractors and major repairs.
Safety & Emergency Response: Serve as a key member of the facility emergency response and safety committees, maintaining emergency plans, drills, and backup systems.
Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with clinical and administrative leaders to support overall facility operations and maintain seamless daily care delivery.
Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or plant operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or direct supervisory capacity (healthcare, long-term care, or senior living experience highly preferred).
Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and Life Safety systems.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of local building codes, OSHA guidelines, and healthcare/DOH facility regulations.
Skills: Excellent leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Certifications: Universal EPA certification, Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), or related trade licenses a strong plus.
License: Valid driver’s license required.
